Jacqueline Wright
Jacqueline's journey goes from Toronto, Ontario, to North Carolina, and finally to British Columbia encapsulates a lifelong dedication to animals and their welfare. From a young age and through the years her passion for animals flourished as she immersed herself in various volunteer opportunities, ranging from fostering cats and kittens to assisting dogs and birds in need, to sitting on the board of directors for a charity that brings both animals and people together to heal.
In 1999, Jacqueline's commitment to animal welfare was strengthened as she joined the Emergency Animal Response Team and was deployed just 2 months later during the tumultuous Hurricane Floyd. Her courage and compassion led her to become a first responder, where she bravely rescued countless animals, earning her a memorable ride to the site first in a cesna airplane and then in a Black Hawk helicopter, courtesy of the United States Army.
Dedicating herself to local causes, Jacqueline volunteered for Best Friends animal sanctuary in North Carolina and was part of their fundraising committee and editor and writer for their newsletter. Once in BC, she served on the board of directors for Kindred Farm (formerly known as SALI's Farm) during its infancy. Her involvement extended to fundraising and event organization, as well as facilitating dog washes to raise funds and organizing dog washes and arranging for veterinary care for animals owned by unhoused individuals, embodying her commitment to the betterment of animal welfare and bringing animals and people together to heal, while recognizing the human/animal bond.
Jacqueline eventually transitioned from her role as a veterinary assistant, venturing into the creative realm of the animal industry, mastering the art of grooming dogs. For over 15 years, she has delighted in pampering the beloved dogs of South Surrey and is now eager to extend her expertise to fostering "paws-itive" and healing experiences for their human counterparts. Throughout her almost 3 decades in the pet industry, Jacqueline has worked with a diverse array of species, nurturing her deep-rooted connection with animals and their well-being.
